Air India pilot dies by suicide in Mumbai, boyfriend arrested for abetment

A 25-year-old Air India pilot was found dead at her rented apartment in Mumbai’s Powai on Monday morning. She died, allegedly by suicide, and her boyfriend, identified as 27-year-old Aditya Pandit, has been arrested in Delhi for abetment to suicide.
According to the police, Srishti was being abused by Aditya and was struggling with mental health issues. In one instance, Aditya reportedly insulted her in front of others for eating non-vegetarian food, police said. An argument broke out between both of them, following which Aditya had left her midway and went home.
When Sristhi returned from work on Sunday evening, she had a fight with Pandit, who was at her house. Then Pandit left for Delhi at around 1 am on Monday.
Srishti then called him and said that she was going to die by suicide, following which Pandit returned to her house. However, when he reached her house, he found that the door was locked, and she didn’t respond.
He broke open the lock with the help of a key maker and found her unconscious. Srishti was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
Her family members lodged a complaint with the police against Pandit alleging that he used to abuse her, following which he was arrested on charges of abetment of suicide.
Pandit was produced in court on Tuesday and sent to four-day police custody. Further investigation is on, police said.
